U.S. Army lineage of Co. F., 51st LRP (Airborne) Infantry
1917 Constituted 15 May as Company F, 51st Infantry, Regular Army; organized 16 June at Chickamauga Park, Georgia; and assigned 16 November to 6th Division. Campaign Participation: World War I in Meuse-Argonne and Alsace, 1918. Decorations: Presidential Unit Citation (Army), Streamer embroidered Ardennes (4th Armored Division cited)
** 1946 Converted and redesigned 1 May as Troop C, 10th Constabulary Squadron, an element of the 14th Constabulary Regiment.
1948 Inactivated 20 December in Germany, converted and redesignated as C Company, 10th Armored Infantry Battalion, an element of the 4th Armored Division. Campaign Participation: World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsac, and Central Europe. Decorations: French Croix de Guerre with palm, World War II, Streamer embroidered Normandy (10th Armored Infantry Battalion cited) French Croix de Guerre, World War II, Fourragere (10th Armored Infantry Battalion cited) French Croix de Guerre with palm, World War II, Streamer embroidered Moselle River (10th Armored Infantry Battalion cited.)
** 1953 Redesigned 25 February as Company C, 510th Armored Infantry Battalion, an element of 4th Armored Division.
1954 Activated 1 April and relieved from assignment to 4th Armored Division.
1959 Redesigned 1 July as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 6th Battle Group, 51st Infantry.
** 1967 Redesigned 11 August as Company F, 51st Infantry, and activated 25 September in Vietnam.
1969 Inactivated 24 January in Vietnam. The company flag was lowered 1 Feb 1969. Campaign Participation: Vietnam, Counter-offensive Phase III, Tet Counter-offensive, Counter-offensive, Phase IV, Counter-offensive, Phase V, Counter-offensive, Phase VI. Decorations: Valorous Unit award, Streamer embroidered SAIGON Long Binh (Company F, 51st Infantry cited), 31 Jan.-19 Feb. 1968, DAGO 48, 68. Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Streamer embroidered Vietnam 1968 (Company F, 51st Infantry cited), 1-9 Feb. 1968, DAGO 43, 70.

F Company 51 was reactivated as Company F, 51st Long Range Surveillance Unit and assigned to the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion (Tactical Exploitation) (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to provide the XVIII Airborne Corps with long range surveillance capability (see photos). F/51 LRS is presently deployed in Iraq. Note: a more detailed history of the lineage of F Company 51 LRS is in the works and will be posted here in the very near future.
