F/51st LRSU (Long Range Surveillance Unit)
(F/51st LRP's direct descendant)

In 1991, F/51st was reactivated for the Gulf War for operation Desert Storm as F Company, 51st Long Range Surveillance Unit of the 519th Military Battalion, 529th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. F Company, 51st Infantry Long Range Surveillance Company was assigned to the battalion to provide the Corps with long range surveillance capability.

The Mission of the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion (Tactical Exploitation) (Airborne): Conduct interrogation of prisoners of war, counterintelligence, and long range reconnaissance and surveillance in support of XVIII Airborne Corps and subordinate divisions.

The men of F/51st LRSU are currently performing that mission in Iraq and other areas around the world.

When the SILENT VICTORY producers and their crew were at Ft. Bragg conducting interviews for the documentary, F/51st LRSU allowed them to film some of their training operations. These are photographs Executive Producer Don Hall took at that time. When SILENT VICTORY is released on DVD, the producers plan to edit a piece on F/51st LRSU to include as bonus material.

F/51st member Dave Grieninger (second from the right) was instrumental in making the Ft. Bragg shoot a successful one. Without his can-do, make-it-happen attitude, we would not have gotten such great results during this shoot.
